Today's Stepping Stone is Do What Matters Today. This chapter was a bit revelational to me. (duh!) I am always looking for the ONE BIG THING I'm supposed to be doing. She points out that what we are supposed to be doing is whatever it is that we are supposed to be doing each and every day- our "to-do" list! And that as we go about our daily routines and particpate in the life we are in NOW, God will begin to shape and mold, and reveal His ultimate purpose to us. This was actually a huge relief to me, because this is what I'm instinctively wanting to do, and now feel that I have "permission" to continue on this path!

One thing that she recommended was to consider your most important roles and priortize them in your mind, heart, and schedule: 

• What is my most important role in life?
• What is my second most important role in life?
• What is my third most important role in life?
• What is my fourth most important role in life?
• What is my fifth most important role in life?

Can you answer these?? I am still working on this. I'd love to hear you share!

She also cautions to take good care of OURSELVES- something women tend to always put last. She states "If you are going the distance for God, you must take care of the physical temple in which you live. Ask yourself, 'Am I exercising, eating right, getting enough rest, drinking enough water, and enjoying laughter breaks?' If not, what three things will you do to improve your self-care during the next thirty days?" I thought this was a great goal for a new year!

The book sounds good. I am not one to be too introspective anymore. I find that sometimes it leads me to despair because I can't get it all figured out. However, at the same time, it is good to take stock every so often.

The role list would be a hard one for me. I guess I'd want to put being obedient God as my number one role, though honestly, I couldn't because I don't walk the walk like I'd like to. So that being said, Wife is my number one role, Mother is my second, Obedience to God is my third (until I grow more!), Friend is my fourth, 5th is bookkeeper, 6th would be artist. I'd like #6 to move up a spot...eventually.

Taking care of myself? I'm getting so much better. I get my hair cut more than twice a year now, I do my hair each day, I wish I could figure out how to make nailpolish last long enough to make the time it takes worth it, I buy clothes each season, and I exercise. I still have a long way to go, I need to eat better, drink more water, take my medicine regularly, go to the doctor instead of avoiding it, and get enough sleep.

I didn't get a chance to go look for the book this weekend but the more and more you post information from it the more and more interested I am! I am going to write down the title and author and keep it in my purse so that I can find it the next time I am at the bookstore.

Ok...now on to my answers. I do get my nails done professionally; however, there are many times I do not get them filled at the time they need to be. I think my biggest problem of not taking care of myself is I "do" so much for everyone in my family that I do not get to bed until after midnight every night, therefore, do not get a good nights rest, body doesn't get the chance to rejuvenate accurately, etc. That is not good at all!
