Well, I'm back!  So my extensive (ha!) list of fans can continue to watch for posts with bated breath after all.  I thought for those of you who "knew" me in my old blog, I would give just a quick update...

  • I had mentioned that I was considering getting into real estate.  Well, I am taking the classes now (the first one)- and have decided that it is NOT for me.  So I intend to finish out the classes, but not pursue it any further.  I can mark it off my list with no regrets!
  • I have also decided to bring my sign back in with the interior decorating for a season.  As much as I enjoy decorating- I need to decide if I really want to pursue it as a business- and if I ever decide I really do, then I will jump in with both feet.  I have been sticking my toes in with it- and I have mixed feelings about it.
  • So for the time being- what I have really decided to do is to just continue working my part-time job (easy! good hours! fun!) and enjoy my evenings at home with George, my days' off spent doing things I love (like painting! gardening! whatever!), and let my passion rediscover me, instead of the other way around.

As for our upcoming travel plans!  We have booked every place of lodging, our airfare, and our car rental- all paid for in advance (thanks to priceline!!)!  Here is one place we are staying (where we will be over Christmas)- www.sanluisbayinn.com.  We are flying into LAX and then driving up the coast to the San Luis Bay area, and then back down.  We also found some amazing deals on www.restaurants.com!  We have $130 in restaurant gift certificate- at wonderful little local restaurants in all the areas we will be traveling through!- for $24.50!!  We fly out on the 22nd.  I can't wait!!!

I will share more soon!

I am so glad you are back!! I tried to come visit you a few times in the last few weeks and it sent me to the home page each time I clicked on your name. I thought there was an error or that you left us.
I like your new look on your blog and your objectives. I have come and gone myself but always feel the pull to come back. I often find I am much happier when I blog. It makes it even more special to keep in touch with the friends, such as yourself, that I have made on here. Welcome back and I plan on visiting you often!

I think that the let my passion find me philosophy is one I should take as well. Really if it's something that you love, it will always be involved in what you do in some way or another.

I'm curious to hear why real estate is not for you, since it's something that I've considered. If you feel free to share.

Hey, Shelli! I think the main thing that has turned me off is all the LAWS and RULES and ways an agent can get into deep water- and also the way they can get mixed up in disputes between buyer/seller and end up in court... that sort of thing. It just sounded TOO severe for me. But I woud recommend you talk to people and make your own decision on it- it might be perfect for you! Just at this time in my life, it started sounding sooo complicated. And it made me realize that the last thing I truly want in my life right now is complication! It was a good road for me to start down, because it helped me see more clearly the road I really want to be on right now.
I would recommend one day taking a class or two, and get an "insider" look at it. They are usually taught by seasoned agents, with lots of stories and experience. Very interesting!
